Working as an annexe of the University of Sunderland, courses are available which offer a choice of two science related courses at our Shiney Row Campus. These courses are a route to progress direct onto degree level programmes within the University’s Science Department.
Why study a Level 0 (Extended Degree) or a Foundation Programme?
The extended degree programme offers potential students an opportunity to effect a change in career, to update and certify existing skills in areas of science which offer good employment prospects both at home and internationally. There are minimal entry qualifications and initially the Foundation Programme offers not only fundamental knowledge but invaluable skills to progress to becoming an independent thinker. This year will give a student a very rewarding experience and will allow the assessment of their potential. The course is open to those who completed AS level of study but never progressed onto A2, but would still like the opportunity to go to University as well as those who are looking to retrain or update their qualifications to maximise their employability.
Why study Science?
Science is fascinating and subject to change, resulting in a very dynamic working environment. There are problem-solving scenarios requiring application of knowledge and skills. Practical techniques using the ever changing technology need to be learned and mastered. All aspects of working in science present challenges and opportunities which provide a stimulating and rewarding career.
